    Toy Fair 2020: Technic
Hot Bionicle NewsFriday, February 28th, 2020 at 11:04am by Jason, BZPower Reporter

Let's continue our Toy Fair 2020 coverage today with something more complex. Technic always pushes out a bunch of cool vehicle designs each year, and given their compatibility with Bionicle it's always been of interest to the community, especially fans who strive for more challenging builds. Unfortunately there wasn't anything new to see, but there's still some great elements and recolors to check out. So let's dive in and see what they had on display!

    Technic

    TF20_Technic_01

    42101 Buggy

    TF20_Technic_02

    117 Pieces. 7+
    $12.99
    Available in January

A simple buggy design with some suspension and a decent red / orange color scheme.

    42102 Mini CLAAS XERION

    TF20_Technic_05

    130 Pieces. 7+
    $12.99
    Available in January

Always cool to see different vehicle styles, and farm equipment with gear functions is pretty neat.

    42103 Dragster

    TF20_Technic_03

    225 Pieces. 7+
    $19.99
    Available in January

Another sleek vehicle with a pullback motor squeezed in to add some play value.

    42104 Race Truck

    TF20_Technic_04

    227 Pieces. 7+
    $19.99
    Available in January

Honestly, I don't think about big trucks when I think about racing, but the shaping on this works well and the orange color scheme is nice. Plus, the pullback motor complete with a finish line stand is just begging for you to race your models with your friends.

    42105 Catamaran

    TF20_Technic_06 TF20_Technic_07

    404 Pieces. 8+
    $49.99
    Available in January

The sails and floats really make this model stand out, although the central technic bits feel a bit exposed compared to the car models. Still, for a model that actually does float, there's appeal to this.

42106 Stunt Show Truck & Bike

    TF20_Technic_08 TF20_Technic_09

    610 Pieces. 8+
    $49.99
    Available in January

The matching color scheme with the truck and bike ties it all together, but I like how the trailer can transition to a ramp to jump the bike through the flaming hoop. very neat.

    42108 Mobile Crane

    TF20_Technic_12 TF20_Technic_13

    1292 Pieces. 10+
    $99.99
    Available in January

Folks like their big Technic vehicles, and the mobile crane delivers on size and functionality. Beyond that, it's also a very solid looking model.

42109 App-Controlled Top Gear Rally Car

    TF20_Technic_10 TF20_Technic_11

    463 Pieces. 9+
    $129.99
    Available in January

This is another solid racecar; at first glance it looks a bit small for the price, but the remote controlled capabilities certainly make it worth it, and I'm sure the Top Gear tie in adds some extra dollars to the final cost. Still looks like a strong model.

Once again, Technic provides a lot of good sets, from some small introductory models to pullback motor designs to very detailed cranes and race cars. Plenty of challenging builds for people to put together. Check out the rest of our Toy Fair 2020 coverage to see what else there was at the show!
