Toy Fair 2020: Trolls World Tour
Hot Bionicle NewsMonday, March 2nd, 2020 at 11:33am by Jason, BZPower Reporter

We weren't trying to, but we ended up taking the weekend off with our Toy Fair coverage, but we're back now! If I'm being honest, LEGO making a wave of Trolls sets came a bit out of left field even when they first announced it. As a non-fan of the toy and someone who hasn't watched the movie, I'm clearly not part of the target audience. But there are still some interesting parts and designs in the theme that might make some of these worthwhile, even if the figs are in a completely different class than we're used to.To get a closer look at these sets, read on!

    Trolls

    TF20_Trolls_01

    41250 Techno Reef Dance Party

    TF20_Trolls_02 TF20_Trolls_03

    173 Pieces. 5+
    $19.99
    Available in January

The small landscape piece does a cool job at using the empty space to make a heart shape, but otherwise it's a pretty simple build with some nice purples, azures, and magentas mixed in. The mermaid tail on the fig is also interesting.

    41251 Poppy's Pod

    TF20_Trolls_07 TF20_Trolls_08

    103 Pieces. 4+
    $19.99
    Available in January

The large "pod" piece seems a bit odd, but the overall design is similar to the Friends models with a Troll-ish vibe added to it. And I guess there's a lot of foam pieces included in these sets too.

41252 Poppy's Hot Air Balloon Adventure

    TF20_Trolls_04 TF20_Trolls_05 TF20_Trolls_06

    250 Pieces. 6+
    $29.99
    Available in January

We've seen some hot air balloons before, but this one is very sizable and probably has decent play value. I do like the leafy bits added to the bottom basket, and I think the pieces making the balloon are even larger than the ones previously utilized.

    41253 Lonesome Flats Raft Adventure

    TF20_Trolls_12 TF20_Trolls_13

    159 Pieces. 4+
    $29.99
    Available in January

This set features a generic jail, a generic music stand, and a generic raft. The only thing I really find exciting is the horse body on one of the figs. To be fair, though, it's a Juniors set so it's supposed to be super simple.

    41254 Volcano Rock City Concert

    TF20_Trolls_14 TF20_Trolls_15

    387 Pieces. 6+
    $39.99
    Available in January

I'll admit, this set intrigued me. The stage has some neat designs, like stone monsters holding up the speakers, rotating panels in the stage, and the roller coaster elements rounding out the cool backdrop. Honestly I'm mostly excited for the trans purple and trans red lightning bolts, but I can see the play value to this set.

    41255 Pop Village Celebration

    TF20_Trolls_09 TF20_Trolls_10 TF20_Trolls_11

    380 Pieces. 6+
    $49.99
    Available in January

More of the weird pods appear, but this time they can connect to the tree. Honestly not very interested in this model either, but it does have a few unusual figs.

So that was the Trolls. I'm guessing most of you are probably as uninterested in the movie as we are. Still though, there look to be some great parts that we'll hopefully end up seeing in different colors as time goes on. Now that' you've finished up here, why not check out the rest of our Toy Fair 2020 coverage on this handy landing page? See you next time!
