    Toy Fair 2020: Speed Champions
Hot Bionicle NewsSunday, March 8th, 2020 at 10:07pm by Andrew, BZPower News Manager

Tonight we're looking at the current LEGO racing theme - Speed Champions. It's been around for several years now, but Speed Champions is getting a revamp this year with the cars increasing to eight studs wide instead of six. This allows the designers to add a lot more detail and make the shaping that much more accurate, but of course it also means the cheapest sets are now $20 instead of $15. There's a good variety with lots of cool parts, so read on to check them out!

I think all of the new eight-wide builds look great, but while I've bought a few Speed Champions sets over the years it's not one I dive into regularly. For those fans, the price increase is rather unfortunate, but it's up to them to decide if the increased detail (and parts) is worth it. I do wish there were some American cars in the mix like we've had in the past - hopefully there will be a summer wave that will give us a classic Ford, Chevy, Dodge, or similar. Now that we've wrapped up here, make sure you check out the rest of our Toy Fair 2020 coverage!
