Today LEGO has announced a partnership with Adidas to bring die-hard sneaker-heads and AFOLs what appears to be a very limited edition run of A-ZX8000 LEGO sneakers. The design of these shoes definitely captures the playfulness and creativity of classic LEGO bricks, and presumably will be super comfortable as you show off your fandom while wearing them. adidas Originals and the LEGO Group Team Up for a Special Take on the ZX 8000 Silhouette

Herzogenaurach, September 21st, 2020: For the next installment of this year's A-ZX series, adidas Originals has teamed up with the LEGO Group for a playful take on the ZX8000 silhouette. Demonstrating that you're never too old to play, this unique release sees the Danish toy company bring its instantly recognizable aesthetics to an adidas archival icon.

So what does it look like? Designed as an ode to the classic LEGO brick, this unique ZX8000 sneaker is comprised of a multicolor mesh and synthetic suede upper with a rubber outsole. Meanwhile, taking its bold aesthetics to the next level, the shoe features LEGO studs on the heels as well as co-branded tongue tabs. Then, rounding out the look are co-branded yellow sock liners, 6 different colored lace options, and interchangeable LEGO brick lace jewels.

Where can you get it? The adidas Originals ZX 8000 LEGO sneakers launch globally on September 25th through adidas.com/A-ZX.

Either LEGO and Adidas want to make these sneakers hard to get, or they're just not making very many of them, because it looks like you're going to have to jump through a lot of hoops to get your hands on them. Here's what they shared with us:

Where and when will the products be available?

• The A-ZX8000 LEGO sneakers will be available globally from September 25, but based on raffle and VIP point schemes only. Below are the individual mechanics used for adidas and LEGO channels respectively.
• Adidas US (United States) and WE (Western Europe):
  • Product exclusively available via adidas app in WE and US
  • In-app registration prior to launch required, winners will be raffled - signup starts September 21
  • Amongst all entries the winners will be drawn automatically on September 25, 10am local time within the app
  • Adidas Creative Club members will get informed via a push notification and CRM about signing up for the drop on the 21
  • WE and US consumers will get informed about the need to register on the app until the 25 on the Campaign Page (adidas.com/A-ZX)) and on each regional product detail page
• Adidas ROW:
  • For the Rest of the World the sneakers will be sold on Sep 25, 10am local on adidas.com as a regular sale without any prior registration needed
• LEGO.com:
  • The A-ZX800 LEGO Sneakers will be available on LEGO.com in a very limited run and only through one of these two options in select markets:
    • VIP FIXED POINT REDEMPTION - redeem 15,600 VIP points to get the sneakers, providing your size is still available
      • (Applicable in all EU regions and USA)
      • Starts September 25
    • SWEEPSTAKES - enter the VIP Sweepstakes and redeem 50 VIP points per entry, with maximum 15 entries for a chance to win the sneakers in your size

I think the design of these sneakers looks great, but the color scheme turns me off from ever wanting to buy a pair. Not to mention white sneakers look dirty faster than any other shoes. And then there's the process for even getting a chance to buy a pair - it's too much effort for me. Best of luck to anyone who wants some of these, I'm one less person you'll be competing with.
