Today in our look back at Ninjago through the years we've got three in our sights: 2013, 2014, and 2015. This definitely saw some changes for the theme and includes the period where it was originally going to end but was then brought back due to fan outcry and overwhelming sales. Read on to see some things you may not have seen before!
2013
First up we've got some key art from the Ninjago theme in 2013, where the enemy was once again snakes, but different snakes this time! Then we've got a sketch titled 'Overlloyd,' which is making me feel like I need to rewatch the show, because I don't remember that part at all, oops!
Wrapping up this year we have one of the top ten set to release in 2013: 70503 The Golden Dragon, which was so popular it only took six years for it to be redesigned as a Legacy set!
2014
Unfortunately, LEGO didn't have much to share from this year, just a sketch titled, '2014 sketch,' featuring Sensei Wu and one of the ninjas, and a poster for the 'Rebooted' wave of sets and the TV series.
2015
Moving on to 2015, we have some awesome key art from the Tournament of Elements and Airjitzu arcs of the story, showing the ninjas battling it out as only they can. Plus this was around the time that Nya realized her true potential and learned how to harness the element of water.
The Tournament of Elements was awesome because it introduced so many new powers that we hadn't seen before in Ninjago. Above are some character studies for the other Elemental Masters from this season of the show and the sets that went along with it.
Unfortunately we don't get any unedited photos of one of the top ten LEGO sets from 2015, 70738 Destiny's Bounty, but it is a nice reminder of the awesome build that included a lot of great pieces and colors.
And so concludes another look back at the history of Ninjago - we hope you learned something! Keep checking back on BZPower for more Ninjago retrospectives.
