Set Review: 71763 Lloyd's Race Car EVO
ReviewTuesday, December 7th, 2021 at 11:42pm by Benjamin, BZPower Reporter

The Ninjago theme has a cast of colorful heroes and villains. They've gone year after year with new quests, new weapons, new costumes. And they usually have a TV show to help sell the toys. The next wave of sets in January brings these multi-colored ninjas back into the fray with a stand-alone line that pits heroes against snakes—orange ones this time. And vehicles that "level up" for more power. Today we review Lloyd's Race Car EVO, which does just that. Watch the video to see fancy new parts, serpentine villains, and a car that gets better and better.

Not much text with this review, just the video. Lloyd's car comes with 279 pieces and will cost $30 on January 1, but pre-orders are now available on S@H. Thanks to LEGO for sending BZPower this set so I can share my opinions on it. As you'll see, the car “levels up” and uses some great new parts for the year. What else does it contain? Watch the video!

    Final Thoughts
Once it's all said and done, how does the set stack up? Should I get it?

    Pros
    What's to like?

    • Cool new pieces.
    • Neat leveling up feature.
    • More snake baddies, new colors.
    • Fancy car.

    Cons
    What's not to like?

    • Unsure of bad guys' motivations.
    • Lloyd has to lean back to drive car.

Lloyd has had quite a few cars these past few years. Is this any better? The size, shape, and new elements just might make it worthwhile. It's a fun, quick build, and leveling it up makes it stand out from his larger, armored cars of the past. I like the narrative the back of the box suggests, from one bad guy to two, to the small turret—all reasons to equip his car and himself more and more. And for $30, it's and easy gift or addition to one's own collection, especially for the new parts.
