Set Review: 76050 Crossbones' Hazard Heist

Today we see Black Widow and Falcon save the day from Crossbones, unless he can get away from them with his nefarious plans in the back of his jeep in time. Is this something you should pick up? Read, and watch, on to find out.
This set retails for $20 USD and comes with 179 pieces and 3 minifigs, so it is at an average price point just off of 10 cents per piece, all things considered. This is also the first time Black Widow has been in an ''affordable'' set, only appearing in the large Quinjet sets before. I'll share my opinions on all that and more here. Presentation
The box front has the usual logos and age recommendation, and is sure to show off the minifigs that are included and that this is from the upcoming Captain America: Civil War film. Everyone gets a shot of the action here, with Black Widow riding her motorcycle, Falcon flying in with his Redwing bot, and Crossbones not only driving his armored jeep but hanging out the window shooting flames at our heroes while making the roof turret fire a stud as well! His skills are going to be equally matched by the two Avengers. The back continues the story with a few more play features shown off. Building
The first things we build are Falcon's wings with what I am guessing is Redwing, known as an actual falcon in the comics. Black Widow's sweet ride also has some extra features, namely being a fancy motorcycle mold and having a clip for one of her escrima sticks. I doubt they would appreciate me building their foe's car next....
Crossbones' jeep does not resemble any kind of LEGO car I have build before. There are all kinds of various shapes bringing it together to then be layered with armor of assorted colored tiles, along with an open trunk which holds some tapped boxes that can not be anything good. By the end there is a car that looks like it came from the zombie apocalypse. Set Design
Among the new and interesting pieces a new slope piece: it is 4x6, double-sloped, the height of two plates, and has four studs on the top. It is an easy way to add a small curve while still building from the center of it. Falcon's wings are a new printed neck bracket piece, and his hair is the same as Finn's from Star Wars. We get another air filter mask. The 2x3x2 cabinet piece is also uncommon. There are also some army green plates, a green briefcase, a relatively new gun piece, and trans-black 2x2 curved cone.
As I said, Crossbones' vehicle looks like it survived the zombie apocalypse. The variety of pieces used and the colors they come in achieve the armored look very well, and a grilled windshield is exactly what one would expect for a better range of attack from the driver's seat. The build is not the traditional LEGO car design, as it needs to add space for the armor and roof turret, as well as leave room for the cargo in the back. More on that later...
The minifigs are the most appealing part of this set. A movie-verion Falcon had not been made yet, nor had Captain America's villain Crossbones. Black Widow is the exact same minifig that appeared in the Avengers: Age of Ultron sets last year, but she's still pretty cool. In fact, this is a very affordable way to get a hold of her, as she only appeared in the largest Avengers sets from the last two movies (Quinjets costing $70 and $80). Falcon has a flying bot on his back that detaches to complete simple tasks. Crossbones resembles his comic counterpart quite a bit, which means he probably does not differ too much in the movie's costume design. They all look super-cool. Playability
There is a lot of storytelling going on in this set. Crossbones has some sort of hazardous material in the trunk, as evident by the handles above clear tanks. So when the good guys come to stop him, he'll be protecting his loot with as many guns as LEGO could fit on his jeep. A lever feature allows the boxes in the back to break away from the car, revealing the green briefcase inside. The Redwing flying bot can grip it and fly off, while Black Widow and Falcon deal with Crossbones' array of weapons. All the features here bring this set from looking cool to great to play with. Crossbones' Hazard Heist is a pretty solid set, though his heist turns from hazardous to canceled as the heroes swoop in. The characters make the set, but the vehicle really tells the story and what Crossbones' deal is. Between its armored look and the story it can tell, LEGO did a really good job having it bring the set together. But if minifigs are your thing, an MCU Falcon is great, a new bad guy minifig in Crossbones adds to the collection, and Black Widow comes in a very affordable $20 set and takes part in all the action. This has a little bit of something for everyone.
