Discuss This Story Hot Bionicle NewsThursday, November 14th, 2002 at 9:26pm by Rich, BZPower Administrator

Prior to our forums going offline, our members had an opportunity to ask Greg Farshtey, the writer of the BIONICLE comic, any questions they had on the BIONICLE universe.

    Here is the first batch:

    1) I have a gut feeling that the Kal hate the Bahrag and vice-versa, is this true?, As I have evidence Gahdok- "Fools! you think: you have won...But you cannot imagine what you have unleashed!"

No, the Kal do not hate the Bahrag. The Bahrag may have been warning the Toa about the Bohrok-Kal with that line, or they may have been warning them about the power of protodermis.

    2) Are the krana-Kal or whatever they are now called new designs, or just redux?

Good question. I have not seen the krana-kal myself yet, so I can't answer it just now.

    3) Would you call this "Book" (2001-2004), the "Book of Makuta"? If so will this be the ultimate end of makuta? Or is this just the beggining of what Makuta has got in store for us?

Well, I don't know what I would call the book... I do know the movie will offer some resolution to the conflict with Makuta, but I honestly cannot say whether that will be the last time he appears. At this point, I know the story plans through '04, but not much beyond that, and I know there are plans that go well beyond '04.

    4) When the Toa Nuva collect all of their Kanohi Nuva do their masks change to gold versions of their original masks?

No, no plans for golden Kanohi Nuva.

    5) How is it to write comics?

I enjoy writing comics a lot. It is sort of like writing a mini-movie.

    6) What part has the Exo still to play?

The Exo-Toa still have a role to fulfill in the story... you will find out what that is (and what happens to them as a result) in March.

    7) Will we ever have to pay for the comics or the LEGO Mag?

No, there are absolutely no plans to charge for the comic or the LEGO Magazine.

    8) Do you (the story people and designers) get sets before they come out, like the Kal?

No, we generally do not get sets before they are out. We sometimes see prototypes or samples before they are released. But as far sets we can build and play with, we have to get them at the store or at the company store when they are out.

    9) Can you give us any hints as to the Bohrok-Kal powers or their Krana info?

Well, I have elsewhere released four of the Kal powers, but here are all six: gravity, sound, electricity, magnetism, plasma and vacuum.

    10) Will the new Krana be called Krana-Kal?

    Yes, they will be Krana-Kal.

    11) When will the Exo-Toas names be released? (I know they have names, and I know some of their names already)

The Exo-Toa? You mean the armored suits? They have no names that I am aware of, and they never had any names in the story bible. So I have no idea where any names might have come from... what is the source of your information?

    12) Why can all the Kanohi Nuva be worn upside down?

I have no idea... maybe because things are topsy-turvy on Mata Nui so often.

    13) Are any of the Toa psychic? I heard that somewhere.

Well, Lewa did at one point have a mental link with the swarms as a result of being krana'd, so you could say he was psychic for a while afterthat. But in general, no.

    14) How long were the toa in the protodermis?

Very, very briefly. I would say not more than a minute.

    15) Is Lego planning on making a Makuta set?

I don't want to say yes, because I am not positive, but I know it has been discussed. If we do one, it would be out next year.
